How to play Pastura: rules and scoring
Play Pastura →A short guide to the version of Pastura played on пастура.рф. Play with two or three players, or four players in 2v2 teams. The game uses 52 cards without jokers.
Goal of the game
Earn points from captured cards and table clears called pasturas. Choose a target of 51 or 101 points when creating a table. At the end of a round, a player or team must reach the target and have the unique highest score to win. If the leaders are tied, play continues. Partners share their score in 2v2 games.
Capturing cards
A number card can capture a card of the same value and groups of cards adding up to that value. An Ace counts as 1 in a sum. For example, an Eight can capture a Five and a Three. A Queen captures a Queen; a King captures a King.
When you can discard
If you have no build of your own, you may discard a number card even when a capture is available. For example, you may discard an Eight with a Five and a Three on the table. Discarding is not allowed while you own a build. A Queen or King must capture when a matching card is on the table. A Jack must also capture when it has eligible targets.
Making a build
Combine a card from your hand with cards on the table to make a value you can capture with another card remaining in your hand. For example, a Two and a Three make a build of Five if you keep a Five in hand. An opponent can also capture your build.
A build can be extended with another group of the same value. Another player's single build can be raised if you retain a suitable card to capture it. You cannot raise your own build. In 2v2, you may extend or raise your partner's build when the move meets the game conditions.
The Jack
A Jack captures eligible loose cards, including Jacks, but not Queens, Kings or builds. A Jack earns a pastura only when it captures the sole Jack on the table.
Scoring
- Each Ace: 1 point.
- Each Jack: 1 point.
- Two of clubs: 2 points.
- Ten of diamonds: 3 points.
- Most captured cards in a round: 3 points; no bonus if tied.
- A pastura, clearing the table with a capture: 1 point. The final capture of a round does not earn this bonus.
Early victory
If only one side earns any points from cards and the most-cards bonus in a round, and every other side earns none of those points, that side wins immediately. Pastura points are excluded from this check.
